Quite separately, none (and I mean NONE) of the women they'll push at him are going to put up with a family situation where they live with their in-laws.Part of it is that desis don't consider any relationship worth noting unless you're engaged at least.Getting introduced to the extended family is a huge deal, and most extended family members don't know until the engagement announcement. But his immediate family shouldn't be acting like you don't exist. He'll have family over and not be able to invite me or talk to me because I just don't exist in that world.

Of the 6 cousins and one sister I grew up with about half married Indians and half other races, and overall our family has been very accepting. It doesn't make sense how his family could be so hostile toward me when I didn't do anything to do them.I suppose to need to make it clear with him that he would need to leave his family.Sadly, I know that’s the exception and what you’re dealing with is more the rule.^ Makes me wish I had a family like yours.I know for sure I'd def embrace my Indian side more rather than resenting it as my family in some ways do fit the description of the OP's bf's family.

As I've mentioned before he just isn't financially capable of supporting himself, in terms of moving out, we both are new grads and can't take on that financial responsibility. I’m fortunate that my family is much more progressive about this stuff.
